Communicating with patients at Ancona Hospital

Communicating with patients

Starting from October 28, 2013, patients and families at the Pediatric Onocology & Hematology Department of Ancona Hospital can rely on a new tool in getting acquainted with the Center. A new monitor has been installed by Loccioni humancare in the waiting room of the ward in order to facilitate communication between clinicians and patients and make the first contact with the Center as friendly as possible.

The monitor meets a main need of the little patients’ families: that to know more about who’s going to take care of their children, what their care path will be like, what should they expect from Hospital staff.

Information displayed on the new monitor concern the organization of the Center, the activities of the Associations working within the Department and, first of all, people involved in the care path – physicians, nurses, psychologists, pharmacists. What’s more, the monitor makes patients aware of the quality measures implemented within the oncologic workflow of the Hospital, where traceability and accuracy of preparations is guaranteed by APOTECAchemo and the care path is completely integrated and safe.

The new monitor comes after the installation of the first example at the Oncology Department waiting room few months ago. Improving communication with patients is one of the goals of Lab@AOR, the innovation laboratory originated from the collaboration between Ancona Hospital and Loccioni humancare.
